The Greater Vancouver Home Builders Association (GVHBA) represents builders and renovators providers in Metro Vancouver. They came to Red Rocket Creative Services seeking a new website to serve as a trusted resource on home-building information, and thus drive business opportunities to its membership. We were asked to develop a site that would improve visitors’ browsing experience, facilitate networking, and provide educational opportunities—and integrate a third-party member management tool.


After discussions with the GVHBA, we prepared a technical document describing the site’s proposed functionality. We thoroughly analyzed the previous website to define the many pathways that visitors could follow. With this information in hand, we designed the new site architecture and user experience.

Putting a human face to home building resources

The previous GVHBA website was seen as cold and mechanical. The new design represents the association’s true personality: it focuses on the people and professionalism of the association, and validates the reasons that visitors come to the site: for networking, advocacy and knowledge.

Connecting visitors to home builders and renovators

Our improved search functionality makes it far easier and faster for site visitors to find the Vancouver-area businesses that provide specific building services and products.

Connecting members to their peers

The GVHBA site’s Events section helps members find other members, gain networking opportunities, and develop potential partnerships. Through industry events, members can grow their businesses and appreciate the value of their membership.

Providing educational opportunities

Because the building trades are constantly evolving, and local codes are so complex, the GVHBA site provides access to industry sanctioned learning opportunities. Through the site members can continually remain up-to-date.
