Stratford Hall, an independent coeducational school located on Vancouver’s east side, offers a complete International Baccalaureate (IB) experience from Kindergarten through Grade 12. The school emphasizes multilingual ability with a global perspective, and its IB diploma is recognized by universities worldwide.
Recently Stratford Hall asked Red Rocket Creative Strategies to create street banners that would 1) raise community awareness about the school and, 2) more importantly serve as safety reminders that kids were walking in the neighborhood. The banners would also align with Red Rocket’s recent brand refresh for Stratford Hall, incorporating the school colours and other design themes.
We knew from our previous investigations that Stratford’s enrollment covered a wide range of ages and nationalities, and the school was also proud of its strong arts component. So our design team worked hard to incorporate these themes into banners that would not only catch drivers’ attention, but reinforce the school’s diversity, curriculum and high standards.
Our team’s solutions featured bold, brush-stroke silhouettes of various-aged boys and girls, incorporating Stratford Hall’s strong new colours. Simple, sans serif “WATCH FOR KIDS” warnings were presented in English, Mandarin, Spanish and French, reflecting not only the diversity of the school but also the Commercial Drive neighbourhood. Each warning banner was displayed alongside striking IB World School banners that proudly displayed Stratford Hall’s new identity.
The new banners not only help keep Stratford’s kids safe, they remind residents and visitors that Stratford Hall is there, helping kids realize dreams and become global citizens and ambassadors.
