ParkerDean Plumbing came to Red Rocket Creative Strategies with a vision for a new website, one that would separate them from the plumbing industry norm. Dean Bennett, owner at ParkerDean, explained how he wanted a compelling design, of course, but also wanted the site to facilitate customer interaction and partnering opportunites. We were eager for the challenge.
Our investigations revealed that the website would be accessed by a wide range of users including homeowners, contractors, property managers and businesses. Users would arrive on the site from tablets and mobile devices, perhaps more often than from laptops or computers.
Red Rocket Creative had recently completed a re-branding for ParkerDean, so we had a solid foundation for a new design. The home page was structured entirely around user functionality. Simple, clean icons with hover states directed each type of user (homeowner, contractor, property manager, business) to content written specifically for their needs. No matter where users landed, with one click they were able to request a callback, pay an invoice or get a free estimate. And since so much plumbing business is booked by referral, customer testimonials appeared throughout the website.
One of the most important functions, especially for Search Engine Optimization, was locality. We created multiple landing pages that directed a user searching for a plumber in a specific location, such as “North Vancouver,” to a North & West Vancouver landing page. Likewise for Vancouver, Victoria and the Whistler & Squamish corridor. A related function was expandability. Since ParkerDean is continually seeking partners, we built a page that not only explained the advantages of a ParkerDean partnership, but also each individual partner could easily edit their own landing page and blog.
Finally, to ensure optimum viewing for all users, we created a responsive site that worked well in full, tablet and mobile platforms.
