The Allard Prize was created by Peter Allard in partnership with the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the Univeristy of British Columbia. The Prize recognizes international acts of integrity and awards $100,000 bi-annually to an individual, movement or organization that has demonstrated exceptional courage and leadership in combatting corruption through promoting transparency, accountability and the rule of law.
The Allard Prize Committee initially hired Red Rocket Creative Strategies to create the Allard Brand and design a visual identity package that accurately reflected the organization’s essence and objectives. We also designed and developed their new website.
With these projects completed, we were engaged to design and create a supporting printed brochure that offered a concise summary of the organization’s key goals and purpose while promoting the Allard Prize nomination process and photography competition. The brochure would also provide primary contact and social media info. The brochure would be distributed at conferences and also in one-on-one meetings with like-minded organizations. Deliverables included copywriting, design, production and printing.
Outstanding photography from the Allard Prize’s photo contest offered the strongest visual theme for the piece. In particular, Katarina Hesse’s haunting, headless image gave the cover an immediate and compelling impact. Employing an gate fold format, we were able to maximize the impact of those images while telling the story in brief, succinct chapters. Muted colors and black and white photography reflected the brand identity and also reinforced the serious mission of the Allard Prize.
The result was an attractive, intriguing and informative marketing tool, delivered in a format that allowed for easy reading, distribution and portability at conferences.
