Joseph Plaskett is an icon of the Canadian art scene. In 1946, he was the first recipient of the Emily Carr Scholarship which enabled him to study abroad. Now in his 80’s, and a recipient of the Order of Canada, he remains prolific and spends most days in the studio painting. His work is in many of the major collections across the country including the National Gallery. His success has allowed the creation of the Joesph Plaskett Foundation to award a mature Canadian student with funding to travel and study art in Europe. This $25,000 award is one of the richest annual visual arts prizes in Canada. We are proud to have been associated with the Foundation since its inception in 2004. Red Rocket created its brand and manages the call for entries poster design (created in both English and French) and its distribution to universities across the country annually.
