LEFT AND RIGHT BRAIN THINKING
Part One

At Red Rocket, we are a diverse group of strategic thinkers. Some of us are left brain people, and others are right brain people; just like our clients. This issue is dedicated to the subject and will help you identify the difference.

Here’s an easy test to check if you are predominantly right or left-brain. Clasp your hands together and check out which thumb is uppermost. Left-brainers will keep their left thumb up and right-brainers will keep their right.

When a person develops a dominance toward one side of their brain, they tend to have certain characteristics and areas of interest in common.

The left side of the brain, which controls the right side of your body, is often thought of as the logical, thinking side. Here are some characteristics of a left-brained person:
•  Prefer instructions to be done verbally
•  Good at math
•  Likes to read
•  Very logical
•  Usually rational
•  Can remember verbal material
•  Almost never absent minded
•  Like to tell stories but not act them out
•  Can think better sitting down
•  Attentive during long verbal explanations
•  Prefer well structured assignments over open ended ones
•  Read for specific details and facts
•  Skilled at sequencing ideas
•  Likes to be organized

Here are some occupations that are USUALLY held by a left-brained person (there are always exceptions):
•  Engineer
•  Lab scientist
•  Banker
•  Judge
•  Lawyer
•  Mathematician
•  Bacteriologist
•  Librarian
•  Skating judge, skiing judge, etc.,

Engineering ideas

Great design communicates and we have a story to tell.

As energy prices have increased dramatically, the cost for cooling and heating buildings is going through the roof, literally. Cobalt Engineering, helps architects, developers and building owners design viable structures that leave a lighter footprint on the earth and its environment. You see, Cobalt Engineering is a building systems design firm. That means they design the mechanical aspects of buildings, things like electrical systems, or heating and ventilation.

They came to us with a problem: “We need to articulate our passion for building systems design in a brochure. Can you help us out?”

Using Cobalt’s client’s work as the visual focus point, we demonstrated the range expertise Cobalt delivers. Bold colours, strong headlines and plain speaking copy engage the reader with a truly compelling story. The document was brilliantly printed on 100% post-consumer recycled paper, embossed, then foil stamped and uniquely bound using two strips of eight-loop wiro-binding.

We feel this is an impressive piece and presents Cobalt as a leader, an innovator, and home to great engineering ideas.
