BEING BETTER

Emotional response ranks as the number one reason people purchase a particular brand. We buy things because we feel comfortable, we relate, and we trust the product will deliver. So, how do you interest people who are not familiar with your brand to trust your company? Here are 3 essential tips to help you build a stronger brand:

1. Present a consistent look.
Your identity should flow through every aspect of the client experience. Your business correspondence, stationery, advertising, packaging, shipping label, website, signage, reception area, and right down to the parking lot all have to be consistent and reflect your brand. This act of consistently applying your image to all client touchpoints communicates integrity, affirms credibility and builds trust.

2. Believe in the written word.
Design is doubly as powerful when coupled with inspired writing. Even just a few impactful words can enhance the realism of a design project – so much, your reader‘s got to blink with disbelief. So giddy-up! Creative writing brings life to even the dullest of topics. It complements a design solution and retains the attention of those people who simply aren‘t visual thinkers. A sharp tagline is one way in which creative writing can support your brand identity. With just a few words you describe the essence of your product or business. For example, Pantene (a hair product company) uses the tagline ”The beauty of health“, and at Red Rocket, we use ”We’ll take you there.“

3. Image is king.
Distinguish yourself from your competition by using smart design. If you are selling a product off a store shelf remember that poorly designed packaging implies an inferior product. Refining a package design can have a tremendous positive impact on sales because superior packaging will make your product stand tall. If you sell via catalogue, customers will not be able to evaluate your product first hand. They will base their decision to buy on the image you convey through the catalogue. Earn their trust by presenting your product using clever design, stylish writing, dazzling photography and accurately print the catalogue on quality paper.

Pacific Pilsner – Unfurled

Pacific Pilsner, Pacific Western Brewing’s flagship product, has stood the test of time in BC’s competitive premium beer market. But with several years under its sails, the Pacific Pilsner brand image was looking tired and frayed at the edges.

This led PWB to approach Red Rocket to refresh the packaging. The goal was to grow sales. The most effective way to accomplish this was to ensure that the existing clientele stayed with the brand, while attracting new patrons at the same time. We were cautious not to toss out the elements that made the product recognizable yet the design had to be rejuvenated. This was a truly a balancing act.

The solution included a slight colour shift from a light blue to a deeper nautical blue and we simply applied more of it. We also updated the logo type using a heavier script font – Künstler Script, which was customized with subtle detailing, and applied onto the familiar white background. True to the original nautical brand, we incorporated the Pilsner crest with sails full set, this time, anchoring it with a contemporary solid gold oval. The packaging now had more body and as a result more presence on the shelves.

The improvement in graphics had a snowball affect resulting in a notable improvement in sales. Sales reps had something to be excited about, retailers had a more appealing product to present, and consumers took notice of the more sophisticated packaging.

"Red Rocket has undoubtedly taken many of our product brands to new heights."
