Our toughest client - ever.
We’ve just completed our most trying web project to date!
Although the project had no pending deadline, the project brief brought forward a long list of requirements, technically, strategically and graphically.
The client wanted to embrace the new Drupal 7 platform and utilize some of the latest HTML 5 features: responsive design, interactive sliders, cool (JQuery) sorting functionality, e-newsletter capabilities, secure client login, and of course a full palette of social media platforms - all to be controlled by a sophisticated and intuitive CMS (Client Management System). Did I mention a video game?..oh yes...there was no end to the demands.
Graphically (of course) it had to look amazing, following the newly-refreshed brand identity - clean lines and generous amounts of white space were a must. “Let the images speak for themselves,” they said.
The photography, well, it had to be picture perfect, and the writing razor-sharp: intelligent but with a certain witty humour. All presented in tandem with smart typography.
The client was tough, no doubt about it, at times so stubborn, but always with an eye for detail. There were times when our programmers were scratching their heads, but they hung in there. With a commitment to excellence and strong technical experience, they persisted. Not to say that it was any easier for the designers; many times they had to go back to the drawing board and revise the design details - until it was just right.
In the end the planets finally began to align, with the design approved, the copy carefully crafted, the custom coding stable. And as the last of the content trickled in we could finally see the site coming together.
The client’s vision was becoming reality, the launch was imminent. The client that had given us so much difficulty was finally satisfied, for the moment at least.
Not until phase 2 of the Red Rocket Creative Strategies Website will we need to worry about that tireless client again! Amen.
So yes it’s true, we are our toughest critics and although it’s been a challenge working on our own website and rebrand, it’s also been a labour of love for the entire Red Rocket Team.
Please take a moment to test drive our new website, and do let us know what you think; we genuinely want your feedback.
